I don't know whether to be grateful that nothing repaired stays fixed forever or frustrated. One the one hand, it keeps me in a job, on the other it means that there's an awful lot of running around Zion.

I thought this might be an easier way to find out where I'm needed. I can do repairs to cooling and venting systems in your homes and have some training as an electrician. A lot of the major repairs come through dispatch but if you happen to realize your system isn't working as well as it ought too but hasn't reached failure yet, I can help out with those during my free time.

I could say Hawke is an extraordinarily common name in Ferelden, and you can't swing your arms without hitting one of us, but I suppose if I were all that fussed I'd have picked an alias or something.

You mean you had the Blight and it actually followed you out of the Matrix? I didn't know that was possible. Even in the mental sense.

Not to criticize your right to creative liberty and everything, but naming yourself after the thing that ate Thedas and made you sick seems a little odd.

[ He's thinking of Carver, who in fairness probably hates (hated?) the Blight and its denizens more that most people. If that's possible. ]

I've been told it's important to move on, but if I do that completely I might forget how terrible it was.

The name is to remember me what it felt like to watch my body be consumed by the taint. That way, I don't forgive.

Oof. Don't let the Council hear you say that. Or anyone native for that matter. I assume you've already gotten a lot of furrowed brows.

You're from a place that had the Blight, though. Does it bother you to read that word uses as a name?

The Fifth Blight started about fifteen minutes down the road from where I grew up, in fact. Not even weeds will grow there anymore.

Plus it left my family in itty-bitty pieces, so you could say reading it as a name might require some adjustment. If you wanted an award for understatement.

The darkspawn killed my mother when they sickened me and my illness drove my father insane. I know it's not an easy thing to be forced to remember.

If it makes you feel better, you can call me Felix.

Well, it's not as if you're embracing the idea with open arms, is it. Or that I was ever likely to forget anyway. I wouldn't worry on it too much.

Though I might take you up on that just to avoid any sudden retching noises. Seems like it might disrupt conversation and all.

There aren't loads of us, but there are a fair few! Though of course we're meant to all ignore one another and embrace diversity, I suppose.
