I don't know whether to be grateful that nothing repaired stays fixed forever or frustrated. One the one hand, it keeps me in a job, on the other it means that there's an awful lot of running around Zion.
I thought this might be an easier way to find out where I'm needed. I can do repairs to cooling and venting systems in your homes and have some training as an electrician. A lot of the major repairs come through dispatch but if you happen to realize your system isn't working as well as it ought too but hasn't reached failure yet, I can help out with those during my free time.
My name is Blight. You can contact me here or message me privately.
[A pause, he adds:]
Yes, I realize how pathetic it is that my first post here is an advertizement. Hopefully I'll have more interesting things to say in the future.

I was sick and my mind needed to catch up that it was an illusion. Let's say it inspired my name.

You mean you had the Blight and it actually followed you out of the Matrix? I didn't know that was possible. Even in the mental sense.
[ What an unsettling thought D: ]

Well, I do like to be unique.

[ Does the incredible dryness come across in text?
PS: 'You'd be surprised how people just tell me their darkest secrets' etc. It's okay, Felix, you're just conforming to canon. ]

[ He's thinking of Carver, who in fairness probably hates (hated?) the Blight and its denizens more that most people. If that's possible. ]

I've been told it's important to move on, but if I do that completely I might forget how terrible it was.
The name is to remember me what it felt like to watch my body be consumed by the taint. That way, I don't forgive.

[ He gets it though, at least a little bit. Knowing it was some mechanical design that killed his sister and made Carver joining the Grey Wardens a necessity rather than much of a choice ...really doesn't make it better. ]

You're from a place that had the Blight, though. Does it bother you to read that word uses as a name?

Plus it left my family in itty-bitty pieces, so you could say reading it as a name might require some adjustment. If you wanted an award for understatement.

The darkspawn killed my mother when they sickened me and my illness drove my father insane. I know it's not an easy thing to be forced to remember.
If it makes you feel better, you can call me Felix.

Though I might take you up on that just to avoid any sudden retching noises. Seems like it might disrupt conversation and all.

I hadn't spoken to others from Thedas until now.

[ He's really awesome at doing that, by which we mean he isn't. ]

Or think of a good middle name to go by.

With all due seriousness I wouldn't try to reconstruct yourself entirely just for the handful of us. Hard enough to hold onto who you are in this place as it is.

And it's not that. It's a friendly nick name to those of us who had to deal with the machines deciding it would be fun to wipe out large numbers of us in one go and pretending it was all thanks to an archdemon.

In hindsight Thedas does seem like a series of experiments designed to see how much the little tube occupants can take before they snap and slaughter everyone around them, doesn't it?
[ ...which isn't all that inaccurate. ]

Hm. A flying cat is much better than what I was thinking? I thought Felight sounded a little dirty.
no subject
Really. Now we're back to public relations, aren't we? Truth in advertising etc etc.
[ Thankfully for everyone involved he doesn't have the vernacular to make a pussy-related joke. ]

I think the truth in this is that I'm doomed to have a bad name.
