I would say that some people are putting too much importance into tangible things, and ignoring the fact that things we can't see or touch can still affect us profoundly and change us forever.

The dreams might not have happened in the Real, but they still happened where it mattered and they were the only lives we knew. Without them we wouldn't be us at all.

I'm not afraid of change. I'm just frankly sick of being told to forget about everything and everyone I've ever loved, everything that mattered to me, in exchange for something I've never known at all. It may not have existed to them but it existed to me. I'm a better person because of the lifetime I spent learning and growing and the people I knew helped me do that. I'd be an idiot to throw all of that out.

You're right. Though it's interesting (and a little frustrating) to watch people try to convince themselves that the thing that made them everything they are, something they can't escape, is some kind of cancer that will eventually ruin them. It seems self-destructive.
