Nah, I'm from DC. I thought about going north, maybe see what became of Alaska, but it was apparently not to be.

Yeah! It was taken over by the Chinese in... I wanna say the 2060s? The Americans took it back before the Great War, but after all the bombs fell a lot of historical records got lost.

Okay, so you have America but you're from the future. Or my Matrix was the past. 2014, in fact.

Oh yeah, that would do it. It's 2277 in my Matrix, and most of the world was bombed to all hell and left as a wasteland.

I guess neither of us is from the future or the past, since it was the same time out here.

Just different worlds. Very different worlds. How do you survive in a wasteland?

Well, it's not completely without life, but the settlements are small and the wasteland is unforgiving. Mostly I made it by getting really good with a rifle, being willing to eat just about anything, and carrying around Rad-Away - that is, medicine to counteract radiation poisoning.

In a lot of ways it was. Not having to fight mutated monsters every day is nice, and I don't have to eat two hundred year old TV dinners any more. Kinda sucks to know nothing I worked for matters, though.
